“It’s a new dawn
It’s a new day
It’s a new life
For me
And I’m feeling good
I’m feeling good”       Nina Simone

If you are like me reading those words you immediately hear the sultry, sexy voices of Nina Simone or Lauryn Hill as they belt out “Feelin Good”. That song has been on every playlist of mine for the last 10 years or more, why? Because it’s a reminder that every new dawn is a chance to be the best version of myself, and that the day truly is what I  make of it. Mindset is such a powerful thing and I think it’s basic human nature to forget that. I know when I am feeling down or stressed it’s just easier for me to look at the bad side of things and lay my focus there, spoiler alert those days tend to be bad days. However, when I choose to fight against those feelings and look for the positives, the lessons, and opportunities to grow the day usually goes much better than I could have hoped for. I am excited every morning when I wake up, even if I know the day may not be pleasant because it’s a chance for me to see what opportunities I will have to take charge of my day and turn those unpleasant tasks into something I enjoy. Don’t get me twisted here, it’s a work in progress and it does not always go right. But the fact remains the same that each day is a new opportunity to be the best version of me. I snapped this photo as we were heading home from a mini trip to Oregon something about the sun rising up over the mountains, with the fog, the ever-present air of mystery. What lies waiting patiently beyond the horizon, what mischief is playing amongst the trees. It’s just like a day, right? You may have a schedule that tells you what time you are supposed to be where but it’s all kind of a mystery when you really think about it. The interactions with people, the tasks to be completed, what I have done during that day to make myself proud. Time spent with those you love. Laughing, crying, celebrating. Life is a truly incredible thing and it is meant to be lived in color, with mystery, fresh each and every day and I hope that I can always find a way to make each day count, even the less than desirable ones. Here is a link to my happy playlist on Spotify, it is like my life is a work in progress and songs tend to shuffle in and out depending on my mood but I hope you enjoy it.
