When life feels overwhelming, I always beg to go to the water, preferably the beach. The ocean does something for me. It calms me in a way that nothing else can. I like to stand at the water’s edge while praying and cast all my worries away. I could spend hours sitting on a beach staring at the waves; it’s soothing. So when Hot Hubby noticed I was getting easily agitated, he suggested that we head to Half Moon Bay for the day. We had only gone once before, and it was a brief trip to find succulents, so this was kind of a treat since we would be spending a bit more time there. We went down to Pillar Point and took a short hike along the coast and through the peaceful nature preserve. It’s an interesting location because just past the preserve is an inlet of sorts that is calm as can be, a perfect place for paddle boarding or kayaking the afternoon away, but just beyond the jetty lies the ocean wild and reckless as ever.

While walking along the beach, we came across this piece of driftwood. From a distance, it looked like a lean human making yoga or dance moves. It wasn’t until we were right on top of it that we noticed it was actually driftwood. Shaped by the wind, surf, and sand and molded to look like someone dancing in the sand. We took a few moments to mimic the pose before I snapped the picture and moved on with our day. I wonder how many other people came across that piece of driftwood and thought it was a graceful dancer sharing her talents with the water??

We could not go an entire day in half moon bay without at least grabbing lunch; Hot Hubby is big on the microbrews, so we headed to Half Moon Bay Brewing Co. We highly recommend the crab nachos, chicken wings, and the lavender martini!
